After completing the construction of Athenex’s international headquarters in Phase I, McGuire is nearly complete with Phase II of Athenex’s Conventus construction project – facilitating the build-out of +/- 15,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art pharmaceutical laboratory and research/design space. Due to the efficiency and operational standards of this highly technical biological and chemical laboratory, McGuire’s focus has been to coordinate the intricate needs of the client, the lab director of Athenex, our A/E team, and the construction manager to ensure that the space utilization, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, equipment design, and day-to-day construction needs are met. There are unique challenges that come along with the build-out of a scientific facility of this level of sophistication, such as sound attenuation issues affecting other floors due to the sound and vibrations of the lab equipment, the layout of floor drainage and environmental chambers, and allowing the Phase I office space to function uninterrupted during the lab construction process.
